9/21 – Blue Plate (and Bowl) Special #1

First of all, I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of the Jewish Chicken Monday readers.  May 5770 be filled with nothing but sweetness for you all!  A traditional custom during this holiday is to dip apple slices in honey and so there will be a honey-dipping theme to this Chicken Monday.

Due to the holiday weekend that just passed, I ate two rather large mid-day meals, two days in a row.  At both of these occasions, I did have chicken.  On Saturday, the featured chicken dish was raspberry-glazed chicken and on Sunday it was a good old-fashioned roast chicken that I carved some lovely pieces off of for myself. The downside to this weekend of hearty eating was the terrible tummy-ache that kept me up last night and on the couch for most of this morning!  Consequently, this Chicken Monday was a simple, no-frills meal that was your basic heat-and-eat variety.  Everybody needs to have one of these comfort meals once in awhile, though.

Tyson All-Natural Chicken Nuggets

Nathan’s Crinkle-Cut Fries

The Fries and the Nuggets were baked in the oven and served with a variety of dipping sauces – which brings us to (drum roll please!) the first Chicken Monday Poll!  As I was thoroughly enjoying my chicken nuggets dipped in honey, I watched my husband going to town on his chicken nuggets dipped in barbecue sauce. I wondered how other people enjoy their chicken nuggets, as I have always felt that any other dipping sauce besides honey would just be a travesty.   As a matter of fact, as a kid I used to absolutely drool over french fries dipped in honey.  So please weigh in and cast your vote for your favorite nugget dipping sauce.  Are there any other honey-loving dippers out there?  If your vote falls in the “other” category, please leave a comment as to what other options there are for nugget dipping.  Maybe this honey-dipper may someday be swayed by a new sauce du jour!
